Love Road or Lover's Road

This road has always been hidden from the eyes of the tourists and is one of the most beautiful roads especially meant for the lovers. this road has very few houses and more of the natures calm ambience.it is this ambience that draws lovers to this road to spent some quality time with their loved ones. It's worth a visit. Specially for couples. one can descend from Mall Road or go via Singamari to reach this Love Road.

Lloyd's Botanical Garden

About 15 minutes walk from Chowrastha and just below the Motor Stand lies the Lloyd Botanical Garden. spread over an area of forty-acres, this garden houses some of the most exotic plants from all over the globe. Over the years plants native to Himalayan belt, have been introduced. On its beautifully laid out terrains grow the alpine plants, arum lilies, geraniums, spectacular azaleas, tree-ferns and conifers. collected from Europe are the hawthorn, blackberry, broom, horse, chestnut, ash, birch, lilac etc. brought from China and Japan are cryptomerias; plums, cherries, magnolias and maples weeping willows and deodars; from Africa, the Cape, Bulbon plants and the cypress; from America, magnolia grandiflora and jurriferus bermudiana from Australia and New Zealand, silver and black wattle, the silver oak, the blue gum and eucalyptus. The Cactii and Sacculents section is housed in a separate conservatory with over 150 species on display. the Orchidarium housing 2,500 plants with over 50 rare varieties . Inside the conservatory, begonias in bloom weave an attractive mosaic of multi-colored splendor.

Tibetan Refugees Self-Help Centre

After the dramatic escape of His Holiness the Dalai Lama from Tibet, thousands of Tibetans left their homes and fled to the neighboring countries such as India, Bhutan, China etc. they fled to find peace and freedom and live as free independent human beings. Some also came to Darjeeling and formed a ten member committee. Their aim was to establish a rehabilitation centre and realized the importance of self help. They knew without self help one could not progress in any field be it economical, social, psychological, cultural or spiritual. Thus the "Tibetan Refugees Self-Help Center" was formed on October 1, 1959. now many hand made goods, artifacts etc are made here and sold.

Tiger Hill

People from all corners of the world flock to this rather small hill to witness one of natures most magnificent views. Tiger hill is known all over the globe for providing an unforgettable view of the morning sunrise. from here one can also witness the first rays of the sun slowly lighting up the Mighty Kanchenjunga in an orange shade. The entire Darjeeling town can also be seen from here. A trip to the hill is through Ghoom, the highest railway station on the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway. Ghoom is situated at an altitude of 7407 ft above sea level. Tiger hill is situated further 1100 ft from Ghoom. As the name suggests, there can be no Tigers seen in this hill but a view only comparable to the splendour of Moonlit Taj mahal.

Tenzing and Gombu Rock

Tenzing and Gombu rock also commonly known as " monkey rock" was named after late Tenzing Sherpa and Nawang Gombu respectively. It is a challenging masterpiece of nature's oddity for the rock climbers. It is where Tenzing Sherpa climbed the Tenzing rock in the presence of Late Prime minister Jawaharlal Nerhu without any delay.

Rock Garden and Ganga Maya Park

Rock garden as the name suggests, is a garden fully made out of rock. It is one of the best examples of present day architecture. It is located at a distance of about 12 kilometers, from Darjeeling town and reaching it is through the winding and enthralling hilly terrain. Ganga Maya park situated further 2 kilometers away from rock garden is famous for a small lake at its helm, there are boating facilities in this lake where one can enjoy the serene cool atmosphere of the place. These 2 places in Darjeeling are worth a visit.

Batasia loop

One of the most famous destinations in Darjeeling is the Batasia loop. This place has gained so much popularity due to the DHR. It is in this place where the world famous heritage toy train (DHR) winds its way through one out of the three loops en route to Siliguri from Darjeeling at Batasia. This place is situated close to Ghoom railway station. Ghoom railway station is the highest railway station to be reached by a steam locomotive. This loop is perfect masterpiece of railway engineering. At the center of the loop is a war memorial which stands to reminds us of the Gorkha martyrs, who laid their lives protecting the sovereignty of our motherland. with The mighty Kanchenjunga forming the perfect backdrop

Happy valley tea garden

Apart from tourism, Tea is the biggest industrial activity in the Darjeeling hills offering the largest employment to the people of the hills.. The turnover of the Darjeeling tea industry is nearly 7.6 million USD, which is more than the money generated by tourism in the Darjeeling hills. Happy Valley Tea Garden located approximately 1 km from Darjeeling town offers the tourists with a first hand opportunity to experience the manufacturing process of the Darjeeling Tea.
