RAVANGLA

Situated at a distance of 65 km from Gangtok and lying on a ridge between Maenam and Tendong Hills is Ravangla. It is considered an ideal place for a quite and serene stay. Ravangla is surrounded by small and friendly villages such as Yangang, Tinkitam, Kewzing, Barfung & Bakhim. The tourists can also choose to stay in the homes of these villagers. Ravangla is a perfect destination for village tourism, flora and fauna, mountains, waterfalls, tea gardens, quaint villages, local Sikkimese people, culture, monasteries and fresh cold winds. Some places of interest in and around Ravangla are the Bonn Monastery, the old historical market of Kewzing, Ralong Monastery, Borong Hot springs, and the Maenam Peak situated at 10300 ft which offers spectacular views of the eastern himalaya ranges.

MAENAM HILL

This hill towers over South Sikkim with Ravangla Bazaar on one side and Tendong on the other. it is situated at an altitude of 10300. ft above sea level. This hill offers magnificent views of Himalayan span of the Indo-China border towards the North. One can also view the plains of West Bengal and other surrounding plains on a clear day. It takes about 4 hrs trek from Ravangla to Maenam. From the Maenam hilltop one has the option to either take a gentle walk down to Borong village or a treacherous trails down to Yangang village. Phur-cha-chu (Hot Springs)- at about 4 kms from Legship towards Naya Bazaar on the banks of river Rangit lies these hot springs. These hot springs are considered to have great medicinal values and also are hold religious importance as it houses one of the four holy caves of Sikkim. This place is considered ideal for bird and butterflies watching.

SIKIP

Located on the banks of river Rangeet, this place is an excellent fishing spot and also offers a campsite beside the river.

NAMCHI

This place is nested among the hills of the south and offers a panoramic view of the Darjeeling hills, Kalimpong and the snow clad mountains. Namchi which means “Sky high” is situated at a distance of about 100 kms from Siliguri and 78 kms from Gangtok. It is perched at an altitude of 4300 ft and offers a quite stay. It is the district head quarters and is fast gaining popularity as a tourist spot because of its round the year tourist activities.

Tendong Hill

This hill is abound in myths and lores passed down through generations of the ethnic Lepchas. The Tendong hill is one of the most prominent landmarks of south sikkim. Its name which means "the upraised horn" was given to it form the ancient Lepcha lore which says this place held on to a boat containing people and rose up like a horn when floods hit this place. This hill is situated at an altitude of 8530 ft.

Temi Tea Garden

This Tea Garden is one of the few tea gardens which produces quality tea for the Indian as well as international market. It spreads across a gentle slope and provides panoramis views.

RALANG MONASTERIES

This monastery belongs to the Karma Kagyu order and was rebuilt by the government between 1975 and 81. over 100 monks stay in this Monastery.

SINON MONASTERY

Sinon which means 'the suppressor of intense fear'. was built in 1716 and is located about 10km from Tashiding on a hill top.

KEWZING MONASTARY

This monastery is located near Kewzing in South Sikkim. It was built during the reign of Chogyal Thurbo Namgyal.

TASHIDING MONASTERY

This Monastery belongs to the Nyingmapa order and lies About 40km from Gyalshing via Legship. It was built during the 17th century on the top of a hill that looms up between the Rathong River and the Rangit River.
